Printhie Wines - a test run of their new tasting room and restaurant... well worth it!
We ventured out to visit the new cellar door at Printhie Wines with a couple of our very good friends, to taste the wine and try out the restaurant for lunch. Despite our six years as residents, we hadn’t made it to the old Printhie cellar door/shed, so it made it all the more imperative to do so.
And the result? A resounding 10/10!

The wines are exceptional and our friends are serial sippers [quaffers… truth be told!] of the Printhie méthode traditionnelle sparkling - a regular and continued award winner. Having taken the time to taste it… we know why and will be joining them more in their routine.
After selecting the bottles we were going to take home [it is truly an occupational hazard… but one we steel ourselves to take on] we retired to the restaurant next door. Opportune to mention the new building that houses both the cellar door and the resaurant and whilst we didn’t wander around and peek in every door, suffice it to say they have created an beautiful, modern, functional, yet very handsome and warm environment. Interior design by Micaela Outtrim, who’s deft touches bring the architecture to life.

Back to the food… what’s there to say? from the time sat down to when we caught our late afternoon cab home, it was brilliantly done. Food was fantastic - very clever, tasty, adventurous… and above all very moorish. We went with their wine pairing and were glad to have done so. they got that very right.
All in all a very relaxing, enjoyable and memorable experience - one that we will be repeating… as soon as we can get in again. We visited mid week [because we can] and is yet another great reason to visit Orange during the week, rather than join the pilgrimage across the Sandstone Curtain on Friday arvo - as if there is any rebuttal.
You’ll need to book because the Central West and much of the Sydney Basin are sitting up and taking notice.
